We offer a number of different types of solid wood constructions.
Since there are quite a few possibilities when it comes to the construction of solid wooden houses, we would like to showcase the different options, so you can get a better idea of what kind of a house you can get.
The two most important factors which affect the final look and the cost of the house are the exterior design and the construction of walls. Every construction type can be used with your desired floor plan.

Our solid houses are usually built out of uncut logs (round) so we preserve the authentic look of the logs. You can also choose a solid wooden house with hewn logs (square), which is less noticeable and blends in with the urban environment more.
Log cabins as they are imagined by most people. Round peeled logs construct the framework of the solid wood house. This construction type can achieve a very modern or rustic appearance.
This is a more modern look of a solid wood house which blends in even in tight urban spaces. It is a suitable choice for areas where local building regulations limit the construction of wooden houses.
Corners of the house can have tails made from evenly straight logs or accented flared butt logs.
What even is a flared butt log (root collar) ? It is the bottom part of the trunk which is the thickest and somewhat flared out since it is the area where roots join the main stem or trunk.
If you want a more rustic and natural look of the logs, the tails with flared butt logs are the right choice for you. You can choose from a different number of flared butt logs and their size.
In case you want a more modern look of your solid wood house which blends in more easily, then your choice will probably be tails without flared butt logs.
Regardless of your choice of tails (with or without flared butt logs), they can be cut straight or alternately (staggered).
Alternately cut logs.
Evenly cut logs.
Log joinery or or types of saddles for log cabin construction. The choice mostly depends on the type of construction and intended use. At Natural Log House the most common two types of log joints we use are the saddle notch and the dovetail joint.
Occasionally we use the Scandinavian saddle notch (also known as Norway’s notch) which is the most intensive and efficient corner joint. Because of its complexity, it increases the cost considerably and we only use it when necessary.
It is the most widely used among cabin builders because it doesn’t leave cracks between joints during drying time. Logs are in contact during the whole drying time and settle into each other.
Craftsmen like to use it when they have to join square logs at the corners. This joint enables fixation in all directions. We use it when building our houses with hewn (sqaure) logs.
The interior roof can be made with solid (round) logs which are visible on the inside, or from ordinary rafters which are hidden.
A roof made out solid round logs is definitely the cherry on top when it comes to the interior design of your new house. This is a client favourite as you will be surrounded by the warmth of the wood from every side of the house.
When we build a roof with ordinary rafters, they are usually hidden. The ceiling can be covered with larch boards, drywall, or some other way. This is a more affordable option.
The construction process of a log house is a bit different from a conventionally built house. Since every house is unique, we are highly adaptable to your wishes and needs.
There are three different construction phases clients most frequently decide among.
